ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Josey McMahon has four adult children, two adult step children,  three grandchildren (one of whom has down syndrome), and is a social worker and passionate advocate for the rights of people with disability to have good lives that have meaning and purpose.

Josey has low vision and has not allowed her disability to define who she is but has risen above the labels and barriers that many people have tried to place upon her.

Josey has great tenacity and through her efforts successfully moved her twin sister Cathy from institutional care where she resided from June 1967 to May 2014, isolated from family, friends and community. Cathy is now living in a home of her own with paid and unpaid support around the corner from Josey and is putting her roots down in her local community.

Josey believes that people with disability have dreams for their lives but are often prevented from fulfilling these.

Josey is committed to unleashing their dreams and passions and working with people through planning to achieve great lives.

Josey's low vision has never stopped her.
